Job Description

Role Purpose

The HR Project Assistant Manager will be responsible for managing human resources functions within the project, including recruitment, placement, welfare, performance management, and compliance. The role ensures effective engagement and supervision of skilled, semi-skilled, and casual workers to support smooth project delivery.


Key Responsibilities

  • Workforce Planning & Recruitment
  • Identify manpower needs (skilled, semi-skilled, casual) based on project phases.
  • Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, and placement of workers.
  • Maintain updated staff rosters and work schedules.
  1. Employee Relations & Welfare
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws and organizational policies.
  • Address grievances, conflicts, and disciplinary issues fairly.
  • Oversee worker welfare including health, safety, and accommodation (if applicable).
  1. Performance Management
  • Set work targets and monitor productivity of workers.
  • Develop KPIs for supervisors and casual worker teams.
  • Provide feedback and recommend training interventions.
  1. Compliance & Documentation
  • Maintain proper employee records (contracts, attendance, timesheets, payroll inputs).
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements (NSSF, PAYE, NHIF, OSHA, etc.).
  • Support audits and reporting to management.
  1. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
  • Work with HSE teams to enforce workplace safety standards.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and awareness sessions.
  • Investigate and report workplace incidents.
  1. Project HR Administration
  • Coordinate payroll data for casual workers (daily/weekly payments).
  • Monitor labor costs against budget.
  • Liaise with project managers and supervisors to ensure smooth HR operations.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Professional HR certification (an added advantage).
  • Minimum 2 years’ HR experience in project-based or labor-intensive industries.
  • Strong knowledge of labor laws and statutory compliance.
  • Experience managing casual and contract labor.
